The situation required an immediate action "I never knew that the human brain had the capacity for such enhanced rapid thinking. One hundred and one things were going through my mind every second. My country was at the verge of collapse. The tension in the land was abysmally high and palpable, in the months leading to the election. The country became more polarised more than ever before, such that the gap between the North and the South and between Christians and Muslims became quite pronounced "In fact, it became so disturbing that some interest groups in the United States began to predict indeed, many Nigerians did buy into this doomsday prophesy as they began to brace themselves for the worst. "We worked hard to grow our economy and to improve and bring Nigeria up as the biggest economy in Africa, with a GDP of about half a trillion dollars." Jonathan's foray into politics and allure of power "I entered politics in 1998 and, barely one year after, I got elected as the deputy governor of Bayelsa, my state. I later became the governor, the vice president and, eventually, got elected as the president of my country. I remain the only leader in my country to have travelled that route. "It was not an easy decision to take. Power has an attraction so controlling and powerful that it takes a man who has the fear of God and who loves his people and nation to relinquish power so easily in Africa." Resisting the lure of power "I promised my God that I will not let that fate befall Nigeria under my watch, hence the historic telephone call I put through to congratulate my challenger even when the results were still being tallied. I believe that for a country to be great, both the leaders and the led must be prepared to make sacrifices. This is why, everywhere I go, I always advise that the new generation of African leaders must think differently. "We can no longer afford to wilfully sacrifice the blood of our citizens on the altar of dangerous partisan politics. It is not worth it. This reminds me of one of my campaign statements to the effect that my ambition was not worth the shedding of the blood of any Nigerian. Some people took it then as mere political slogan but I knew that I meant it when I said it. "We must all fight for the enthronement of political stability in Africa, for in it lies the panacea for sustainable growth and development. For Africa to record the kind of advancement that will be competitive and beneficial to our citizens, we must have stable states supported by strong institutions. That appears to be the irreducible minimum that is common to all developed societies. Africa's political odyssey can distinctly be categorised into three eras, and probably another that would later signpost its classification as a developed continent." On the difficulties ahead "Some may doubt this, but it is no fluke that Africa is growing and rising. However, I will admit before you here that we still have challenges. That is why people like us did all we could to ensure that Nigeria, the biggest black nation on earth, would not drift into anarchy because such a situation would have spelt doom for the rest of the continent. It would have affected not just Nigeria alone, but the GDP and economy of the entire West Africa. And, if the economy of West Africa crashes, it would definitely affect the performance of the economy of the whole of Africa. "As you know, the GDP of Africa is less than three trillion dollars, with only six African countries able to boast of nominal GDP above $100 billion. Even for those in this 'elite' category, you can't really say that they are rich countries. Apart from maybe South Africa that has an industrially competitive economy, the rest are still mainly commodity exporting countries. Even the case of that of South Africa is not very encouraging, because we have a situation which we could refer to as a first world economic performance, yet the ordinary people live the life of the people in the so called third world. "In the case of Nigeria which is even the biggest economy on the continent, the reality is that we have an unenviable per capita GDP of $3,203, which is the World Bank average for a period covering 2011-2015." On Africa's potential "Even then, I still believe that Africa has a bright future; a promising prognosis that is supported by the fact that the continent remains a very fertile and attractive territory that yields irresistible returns on investments. I believe that in the next few years many more big investors will be jostling to come to Africa, if only we will do the right thing. "The process of getting it right has already started with a democratic and increasingly democratising Africa. But we have to deepen and strengthen our democratic credentials through regular, free and fair elections. This will in turn bring about the stability necessary to improve the infrastructure that promotes rapid economic growth. These are the guarantees that would lead us into the next period which I would like to call the era of a developed Africa. I have no doubt in my mind that we will get there some day." About future plans "First, is to work for good governance by promoting credible and transparent elections. This will bring about the strengthening of our institutions and the enthronement of stability. "I also believe that there is the urgent need to create jobs for our teeming young population. This is another area that will be receiving my attention. "I believe more programmes like that (Youth Enterprises with Innovation (YouWin) and the Nagropreneur programme) should be established to promote youth entrepreneurship. That way, we reduce their reliance on paid employment. We will not only teach them to become entrepreneurs, they will also acquire the capacity to employ other people. We will be paying special attention to this segment of our society, especially young people and women. "As we speak, Our Nagropreneur programme, to promote youth involvement in agriculture value chain, is being scaled up by the African Development Bank presently. It is already being replicated in 19 African countries because of the success of the programme in Nigeria. "I am very optimistic that if we encourage young men and women in this continent to develop businesses of their own, the story of Africa will change within 10 years." Details on Vanguard .

My Boss' Wife Could Not Get Pregnant For Him, Now He's Got Me Pregnant

I work in this office and my Boss and his wife
have been married for about 11 years without a
child and the wife filed for a divorce not too long
ago. We started a relationship when he came
down about a year ago and wished I could get
 pregnant for him.

We use to have unprotected s*x a lot but I didn't
see any sign of pregnancy so I concluded he
may be the one with a problem, hence his wife's
decision to leave him. We decided not to have
s*x again on the 1st of January as we both feel
 guilty after the act.
 Now there is a problem...

I tested positive when I checked with a test
strip, so I'm pregnant. He's very happy but I'm
not. He told me he wants to go and see my
family and have the necessary rites performed in
 March.

My worry is he might not do so (as promised)
and the pregnancy will start showing. I had the
same problem with my first son's dad who
always postponed the date for him to come and
do the traditional rites till my tummy grew and
everyone noticed I was pregnant yet he didn't
 marry me .

I suggested an abortion but he refused saying
I'm depriving him of becoming a father besides
he's getting to 40. If he end up not marrying me
like my ex, my family will be very disappointed in
me for allowing such happen to me again as I
can't call this one a mistake.

Chelsea's Alexandre Pato loan deal not a gamble - Guus Hiddink

- Guus Hiddink says the loan signing of Alexandre Pato is not a gamble but admits it is up to the Brazilian to prove he can succeed at Chelsea.Pato arrived in London on Wednesday to finalise the details of a six-month move to Stamford Bridge as the Premier League champions move to provide further cover for first-choice striker Diego Costa, who limped out of Sunday's 1-0 win overArsenal at Emirates Stadium with a minor knee problem. Questions have been raised about Pato's imminent return to European football after a previous five-year spell at AC Milan was brought to an end by declining form, a succession of injuries and accusations of a lack of focus. However, Hiddink said signing the forward on loan means Chelsea have little to lose, even if he concedes that there are no guarantees the 26- year-old will be able to adapt to the rigours ofPremier League football. "It's not a gamble because it's a loan," Hiddink said at a news conference ahead Chelsea's FA Cup fourth-round clash with MK Dons. "If you buy players who must make a next step it's more of a risk. A loan is good for everyone -- to see whether he is happy at this club and whether the club is happy with him after his few months in the upcoming time."He is in London. He was well spotted. Nowadays there are no secrets. We don't want to hide. He is now in the bureaucratic paperwork so we don't rush it. We'll see how soon it can be solved and he can go on the pitch. We are waiting. "It's good to have him on loan so we can see what he can bring. When he comes in we have to allow him time to settle down, to get used to a very demanding league. Then it's up to him to make this gap smaller and smaller."Now he has another chance to make a step in Europe. It's a brave step and it's up to him. We'll help him to get fit and see what he can bring to this club."Pato had been expected to complete the loan on Thursday but the deal was delayed, with sources telling ESPN Brasil that parent club Corinthians are demanding a clause that would prevent the forward from moving to any other English team until the end of 2017 if Chelsea do not make the move permanent this summer. Corinthians requested that Pato, whose contract with the Brazilian side is due to expire at the end of 2016, be liable to pay €8-10 million if he were to breach the agreement.ESPN Brasil has been told that Pato's advisors want him to accept the deal as the clause may not stand in court and the amount demanded is insignificant, but the player is currently unwilling to do so.Diego Costa has shaken off the injury he sustained against Arsenal and is in line to start against MK Dons as he bids to continue the remarkable revival that has seen him score six goals in his last six matches in all competitions after netting just four times in 21 appearances prior to Jose Mourinho's departure last month."I don't know what he did in the previous games," Hiddink added. "I'm very pleased with what he's doing now, his efficiency in scoring goals. We're depending too much on him sometimes but I'm very happy with his performance and attitude. He's a key figure for us, very nice to everyone outside the pitch and he's focusing on his job."Pato's expected arrival eases Hiddink's striker shortage, with Radamel Falcao a long-term absentee as he battles a "very serious" thigh injury and Loic Remy troubled by a persistent calf problem.Sources have told ESPN FC that Newcastle United have made an enquiry for the Frenchman, who is said to be disillusioned about a lack of first-team opportunities at Chelsea, and Hiddink refused to rule out the possibility that Remy could leave Stamford Bridge before Monday's transfer deadline."He is injured for the moment," Hiddink said. "He has a slight injury on his calf and we'll see what will happen in the upcoming days. I don't think being injured now has an influence on him staying or going." Source:espn

A picture of the Metuh taken after his release which was sent to Naij.com by the PDP director of new media, Deji Adeyanju, showed the PDP spokesman felicitating with friends. Olisa Metuh after his release: photo sent in by the PDP director of new media Deji Adeyanju Adeyanju told Naij.com that the PDP spokesperson left the court in the evening on Thursday, January 28 after meeting his bail condition. "We were able to finish everything in the court at about 7 pm and left immediately," Adeyanju said. Metuh's Special Adviser, Richard Ihediwa also confirmed to Naij.com that the PDP spokesperson has been released. "I can now confirm to you that I am with him now, yes, he is fine and he is in high spirit," Ihediwa said. Metuh who is facing a seven counts of money laundering involving the sum of N400m, part of the $ 2.1bn arms fund which he allegedly collected from former national security adviser, Sambo Dasuki, was granted bail in the sum of N300m and two sureties in like sum by a Federal High Court in Abuju on Friday, January 22, but was remanded in prison pending when he fulfilled his bail condition. The arrest and handcuffing of the embattled PDP spokesman has generated backlash from members of the opposition who have accused the President Muhammadu Buhari of using the anti-corruption agencies and other institutions of state to subject accused persons like Metuh to inhuman treatment.

"We will see tomorrow," Pellegrini told hispostmatch news conference. "The doctor thinks he has a problem in his medial ligament but it is impossible before tomorrow."It is very difficult to know in this moment but I am optimistic he will not be out for the rest of the season. It is not a cruciate ligament, it is the medial ligament."De Bruyne joined City from Wolfsburg in August for a reported £54 million and has quickly established himself as a leading star in Pellegrini's squad. He made a huge impact when he came on as a substitute in the 67th minute as the two-legged tie swung in City's favour.Pellegrini added: "I always said Kevin is a very important player in the whole season. He didn't start because we have to play nine games in 27 days."I think it is important to have a very good rotation of the squad. The minutes he played he did very well."Everton goalkeeper Joel Robles has issued an apology for his response to the injury. He wrote on Twitter: "I would like to apologise to Kevin De Bruyne for my reaction to his injury. In the heat of the moment I didn't realise he was badly hurt."I wish him all the best and a speedy recovery." Meanwhile, Pellegrini has said he expects an exciting final against Liverpool, who reached the final on Tuesday night with a penalty shootout victory over Stoke City."First of all to play a final in Wembley is always a special stadium with a special atmosphere," Pellegrini said."If you have two very good teams as Liverpool and Manchester City it will be a brilliant final. We have one month, it is important to focus on the FA Cup and then two important games in the Premier League."

account balance...$13million - and now according
to TMZ, 50cent who once made $100m in one
year, is now worth about $16million.

 Their report
 below
The is a financial shadow of his former self ... this
according to new bankruptcy docs obtained by
 TMZ.

The mogul claims in the legal docs his bank
booty totals $7.4 million. Add to that his real
property holdings of around $8.8 million and his
total assets are just north of $16 million.
It's a breathtaking number, but not in a good
 way.

50 sold his interest in Vitaminwater for
somewhere between $60 million and $100
million. Mind you ... that's just the water. At his
peak, 50 was reportedly worth hundreds of
 millions of dollars.

50 has put it out there that he has declared "rich
man's" bankruptcy ... and that he's still rolling in
 the dough.

He's got more money than most, but
compare him to The Game, who deposited more
than $13 million in his charity account alone.
