The Amb El Gash led PDP screening committee, has failed in one of its duties by clearing Peter Akpanke, one of the PDP aspirants for the Obudu/Obanliku/Bekwarra Federal Constituency seat in the 2023 general election amidst various petitions against the aspirant.

The corrupt panel, was said to be reluctant about checking through documents of various national Assembly aspirants, only focusing on collecting the Mandatory illegal screening fee and tips from aspirants.

According to a petition written against Peter Akpanke by a Civil Society organisation named "Community Initiative For Sustainable Leadership & Accountability" and signed by Comrade Joseph O. Ebunu, the group urged the Committee to disqualify Akpanke due to his past record that can affect the party's chances of winning the Election on the event that he(Akpanke), picks the party's ticket in the Reps election.

The petition which was submitted at the party's National HQ, Abuja on 19/04/2023, reads in part "we hereby bring your attention to legal issues likely to affect the qualification of the above named aspirant(Mr. Peter Akpanke) who is one of the Frontline aspirant for the sole ticket of PDP for House of Representatives for Obudu/Obanliku/Bekwarra Federal Constituency in the event he gets the party's nomination"

"Mr. Peter Akpanke should be disqualified from participating in the primary election of PDP or seeking nomination due to the following legal issues surrounding him."
A-He's a former employee of EFCC in 2015 where he faced an administrative panel and was consequently dismissed which was commuted to termination(in a letter dated 3rd August 2015)"
- in a letter dated 3 August, 2015, he was warned never to parade as an operative of the EFCC or do anything in the name of the EFCC again.

"However, in his dubious and unscrupulous style, he impersonated as an operative of the EFCC in the bid to fraudulently obtain money from an unsuspecting victim but was unsuccessful when the move was bursted by the directorate of State Services(DSS) in Calabar. The event took place in June 2016 after he had been sacked by EFCC . EFCC reported the disclaimer of Peter Akpanke online at https://www.thisdaylive.com/index.php/2016/06/27/efcc-staff-2-others-arrested-by-dss-for-impersonation-attempted-extortion/ where the news reported that he was dismissed from its service"

"Based on the aforementioned, he was also sacked as an aide to the speaker of the Federal House of Representatives which appointment was facilitated by a Member of the House of Reps who defected to APC. The said member has also facilitated his release and for the matter to be swept under the carpet and he has the full dossier of Mr. Peter Akpanke, which he will use to disqualify him should he be nominated by PDP.

The implication according to the group is that PDP will not have a candidate as this said aspirant has been adjudged guilty by an administrative panel which recommended his dismissal. Thus his candidature will be in gross violation of section 66(1)h of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999(as amended) and Section 81(3) of the Electoral Act 2022.

The group also urged the party to verify its claims with the DSS and EFCC in respect to the cases against Mr Peter Akpanke.

Peter Akpanke's clearance shows that the party isn't ready to get things right which will affect its chances in the forthcoming elections.
