 Abramovich gave a £25 million yacht to Russian
 president Vladmir Putin, new reports claim.
 
 Dmitry Skarga, a former head of Russia's state
 shipping company, Sovcomflot, said the boat
 was a gift from Abramovich, who transferred it to
 the president via an intermediary associate.
 
 The pair have long been friends but Putin's critics
 feel he has unknown energy business deals with
 the Chelsea owner.
 
 "It's a fact that Mr Abramovich, through
 his employee transferred a yacht to Mr
 Putin," Mr Skarga told Panorama. Mr
 Skarga also alleged that the yacht is run
 and maintained with state funds, even
 though it is Mr Putin's personal property.
 
 The allegations come as a top American official
 openly accused Mr Putin of corruption and direct
 embezzlement of state funds.
 
 There has been a
 lot of speculation about Putin's actual wealth
 value with Bill Browder, a hedge fund manager
 and vocal critic of Mr Putin, claiming that the
 Russian president is worth $200 billion, a sum
 that would make him by far the richest man in
 the world.
 
 But Putin's spokesman has called the
 allegations "complete trash.
 
 " Mr Abramovich's
 lawyers called the claims about the yacht
 "unsubstantiated" and little more than a "rehash
 of speculation and rumours".

 Dr. Furo Green, the Chairman of Rivers State branch of Nigerian Medical Association, NBA, gave this medical advice, while speaking on the Lassa Fever scourge in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State Capital.He said
 
 "Because you are not sure which garri has been infected by rats, its advisable to stay away. When you want to sip garri, you only pour cold water, add sugar and milk as the case may be.
 
 "When you do that you only succeed in gulping a life virus that can cause Lassa fever. The virus is empowered easily to attack you. Rather, garri should be consumed in the traditional way prepare it well boiled hot water or pour the garri in a pot of boiling hot water and steer it."
 
 Dr. Green also advised members of the public to store food in closed containers to keep rats at bay.
 
 "When you buy foodstuffs like garri, you should pour it into a container that is covered to avoid the garri from being contaminated infected rats".
 
 Since the outbreak of Lassa fever disease, three people have died in Rivers state, claiming the life of a medical doctor with the state-owned Braithwaite Memorial Specialised Hospital (BMHS), Livy Ijamala, on Wednesday January 13 night.
 
 The medical doctor was said to have contracted the fever from a pregnant woman that conducted an emergency Cesarean Section unknown to him that she was infected.
 
 The death of Ijamala brought to three, the number of persons who have died from the disease in the state, as a nursing mother and her two-week-old baby died earlier from the virus.

 Standard Digital is reporting that the fight occurred at a restaurant in Nairobi where Vera and her team had gone to eat.
 
 Apparently, Stacey stormed the scene and started a verbal fight with Vera, and it soon degenerated into fisticuffs as Stacey allegedly emptied the contents of a glass cup on Vera before the duo exchanged blows.
 
 Vera's personal security guard broke up the fight and allegedly sustained injuries in the process. In her statement to the police, Vera said she confronted Stacey after the lady cussed her out.
 
 "When I asked her why she was bad-mouthing me, Stacey picked a glass and splashed its contents in my face," Vera told the CID officers at Kilimani Police Station.
 
 Standard Digital reports that the police are set to arrest Stacey Pendo.
 
 Though the reason for the fight is yet to be made public by the duo, Standard Digital's sources reports that it allegedly is linked to a Nigerian artiste the duo allegedly dated.
 
 In 2014, rumours made the rounds that Stacey was having an affair with Davido, and in an interview, she said it was all true.
 
 In 2015, Davido was briefly linked to Vera, but the duo never publicly admitted to having an affair.
 
 Is Davido the reason for this fight? We may never know.

Political commentator, Kess Ewubare of explains how Metuh triggered his current travails which may eventually lead to his political irrelevance. The PDP has described Metuh's arraignment in handcuffs as a "brazen display of authoritarianism" by the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration Popular for the wrong reasons For the past weeks, Chief Olisa Metuh has been popular for all the wrong reasons. Since the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arrested the national publicity secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at his residence located at drive one, Prince and Princess Estate, in the Games Village area of Abuja January 5, he has dominated in all sections of the media. Metuh is facing investigation for allegedly collecting about N400m from the office of the former national security adviser, Sabo Dasuki, part of the funds meant for the procurement of arms and ammunition for the fight against Boko Haram in northeast which the Nigerian Army never received, thanks to patriotic citizens like Metuh. But the climax of Metuh's predicament came when he was handcuffed by the Nigeria Prisons Service (NPS) as he appeared for his trial at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday, January 19. As expected, the arrest and handcuffing Metuh has drawn widespread condemnation from the PDP. The opposition has ran to the gallery accusing President Muhammadu Buhari of using anti-corruption agencies and other institutions of state to subject accused persons like Metuh to inhuman treatment. The party also claims Metuh's ordeal at the hands of the anti-graft agencies was an intent by the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led administration to deride the PDP as well as taint the party as a party of corrupt individuals even when they were yet to be convicted by any competent court. But these baseless accusations by a party which celebrates people like James Ibori, Peter Odili, Joshua Dariye, Diepreye Alamieyeseigha, Lucky Igbinedion, Chief Bode George, Sambo Dasuki and Goodluck Jonathan among others who are accused of perpetuating corruption in high places should not come as a surprise to Nigerians. How Metuh Committe Political Suicide What the PDP has failed to realise is that Olisa Metuh committed political suicide when he collected N400m from Dasuki and still had the nerve to attract attention to himself by constantly attacking an administration that was busy trying to deal with the mess that he and his league of looters had created. Prior to his arrest, Metuh displayed the kind of disposition that violates the principle "that he who comes to equity must come with clean hands" . Aware that he had skeletons in his cupboard, Metuh should have kept quiet rather than constantly gallivanting the media taking swipes at the APC administration which is battling to clean the filth he and his PDP cohorts have heaped on the country. He shot himself in the foot when he chased cheap popularity by raising alarm that the economy of the country was crumbling and that the insurgency in the northeast was worsening when he knew that he was among those who had milked Nigeria dry and shared in the blood money many of our gallant soldiers died for but never received. In a Punch report dated January 12, 2016, Olisa Metuh himself made a confessional statement to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission that Goodluck Jonathan gave him N400m for a job which he refused to disclose. This was after he tore his confessional statement and decided to swallow the paper so as to eat his words literally. How PDP is advertising shamelessness Even after his confession, the PDP has chosen to close its eye to Metuh's statements by pretending that shame has gone out of fashion. In advertising shamelessness, the party still has the nerve to demand for the release of Metuh, warning that his arrest was capable of ruining the country's democracy as stated by its national secretary, Prof. Adewale Oladipo, in a Punch report of January 5, 2016. Let's ask this question, if a man who has confessed to stealing N400M (one million in 400 places) is handcuffed, is it a big deal? Olisah Metuh deserves what he is getting, he should have learnt from men like Chief Bode George and Peter Odili who have chosen to lay low so as to hide their alleged financial crimes. One thing is certain following Metuh's arrest, he is on his way to political irrelevance now that some national officers of the party have asked him and the acting chairman, board of trustees, Haliru Mohammed and others to step down with immediate effect. Whether his political death comes now or later, Metuh should bear in mind that he caused his own downfall by talking too much when he knew he had skeletons in his cupboard. Prior to the fixing of the hearing date, counsel to MTN, Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN), informed the court that parties were already discussing on how to resolve the matter amicably.He then asked for a 60-day period from the court to allow for the discussions. In his submissions, counsel to NCC, Yusuf Alli (SAN), disclosed that the court's discretion is limited to the rules of court, which allows for just 21 days to file and serve written addresses. Counsel to the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), Oladipo Okpeseyi (SAN), in his response to Olanipekun's 60-days request, expressed reservations. He disclosed that the telecommunication outfit has not been consistent in its call for an out of court settlement of the matter. "This is a matter of national importance. There has been concessions in the past and nothing happened", he said. The silk urged the court to make a consequential order that all the processes filed are deemed as properly filed and served. Following the various submissions of lawyers, Justice Idris held that all the preliminary objections and substantive application shall be taken together while all the processes filed shall be deemed as properly filed and served. He then adjourned the matter till March 18, for report of settlement or for hearing. In the substantive suit, MTN had sued NCC, challenging the sanction imposed on it and urged the court to quash the fine. Joined as co-respondent in the suit is the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice. The telecoms company argued that NCC being a regulator couldn't assume all the functions of the state on its own. It was further argued that the NCC cannot make the regulation, prescribed the penalty and imposed the fine. MTN also alleged that it was not afforded its constitutional right of fair hearing before a court of competent jurisdiction and more importantly, it had not been found guilty of any offence that will warrant it to pay such outrageous fine. It contended that the sanction imposed on it by NCC was within 24 hours of its written submission on the disconnection exercise and the impractical nature of the NCC deadline.

It was gathered that the police also recovered the forged certificates.It was observed that the certificates included a fake MBBS certificate of the University of Ibadan, and a fake membership certificate of the Nigerian Medical Association.Speaking with PUNCH, Adesina said he paid N100,000 to one Kolawole in Ibadan, Oyo State, to get all the certificates, adding that he had used them for only three years. He said, "I bought the certificates from Kolawole in Ibadan. That was three years ago. I bought them from him for N100,000. He printed the seven certificates."I do not know where he stays. We did not meet in any specific location. We usually met at fast food joints or any agreed place. For instance, it was at Agodi Gate area that I gave him the money and got the certificates. I decided to use another name on the certificates."I forged them because I dropped out of the university. I was actually studying Medicine.However, I dropped out in the 500 level due to financial reasons."I married my wife about five years ago. She thought I was a certified doctor. She actually came to me for treatment in the Ketu area and that was how we met. We have a child."Adesina, who denied his landlord's allegation, said he only operated a laboratory where he attended to his patients. He said, "Three years ago, I decided to get the certificates just to cover up for the failure to finish my university education."It is not true that I brought women to treat at home. The truth of the matter is that I have a laboratory and the women came there. I usually did tests for them and by the time the test results were out, I would ask them to visit a hospital for treatment."The suspect's wife, Olawumi, pleaded that her husband should be released as he had realised his mistake, and would never venture into such again.But the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, said the suspect would be charged to court as soon as investigation was over.

 Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed
