Gunshot caused a lockdown at the
U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C on
Saturday. However, now police say it
was caused by a suicide.

The incident happened on the west
front of the building and even after it
was determined to be a suicide, the
lockdown continued, according to
CNN.

Along with the shooting, police
officers also were investigating a
suspicious package on the lower west
terrace of the Capitol, police
spokeswoman Kimberly Schneider
told the news outlet.

Roads around the area were closed,
according to The Washington Post. The lockdown was eventually lifted at
3:50 p.m., but access to the west front of the building remained closed.

Further details about the incident
were not immediately released.
