I later became the governor, the vice president and, eventually, got elected as the president of my country. I remain the only leader in my country to have travelled that route. "It was not an easy decision to take. Power has an attraction so controlling and powerful that it takes a man who has the fear of God and who loves his people and nation to relinquish power so easily in Africa." Resisting the lure of power "I promised my God that I will not let that fate befall Nigeria under my watch, hence the historic telephone call I put through to congratulate my challenger even when the results were still being tallied. I believe that for a country to be great, both the leaders and the led must be prepared to make sacrifices. This is why, everywhere I go, I always advise that the new generation of African leaders must think differently. "We can no longer afford to wilfully sacrifice the blood of our citizens on the altar of dangerous partisan politics. It is not worth it. This reminds me of one of my campaign statements to the effect that my ambition was not worth the shedding of the blood of any Nigerian. Some people took it then as mere political slogan but I knew that I meant it when I said it. "We must all fight for the enthronement of political stability in Africa, for in it lies the panacea for sustainable growth and development. For Africa to record the kind of advancement that will be competitive and beneficial to our citizens, we must have stable states supported by strong institutions. That appears to be the irreducible minimum that is common to all developed societies. Africa's political odyssey can distinctly be categorised into three eras, and probably another that would later signpost its classification as a developed continent." On the difficulties ahead "Some may doubt this, but it is no fluke that Africa is growing and rising. However, I will admit before you here that we still have challenges. That is why people like us did all we could to ensure that Nigeria, the biggest black nation on earth, would not drift into anarchy because such a situation would have spelt doom for the rest of the continent. It would have affected not just Nigeria alone, but the GDP and economy of the entire West Africa. And, if the economy of West Africa crashes, it would definitely affect the performance of the economy of the whole of Africa. "As you know, the GDP of Africa is less than three trillion dollars, with only six African countries able to boast of nominal GDP above $100 billion. Even for those in this 'elite' category, you can't really say that they are rich countries. Apart from maybe South Africa that has an industrially competitive economy, the rest are still mainly commodity exporting countries. Even the case of that of South Africa is not very encouraging, because we have a situation which we could refer to as a first world economic performance, yet the ordinary people live the life of the people in the so called third world. "In the case of Nigeria which is even the biggest economy on the continent, the reality is that we have an unenviable per capita GDP of $3,203, which is the World Bank average for a period covering 2011-2015." On Africa's potential "Even then, I still believe that Africa has a bright future; a promising prognosis that is supported by the fact that the continent remains a very fertile and attractive territory that yields irresistible returns on investments. I believe that in the next few years many more big investors will be jostling to come to Africa, if only we will do the right thing. "The process of getting it right has already started with a democratic and increasingly democratising Africa. But we have to deepen and strengthen our democratic credentials through regular, free and fair elections. This will in turn bring about the stability necessary to improve the infrastructure that promotes rapid economic growth. These are the guarantees that would lead us into the next period which I would like to call the era of a developed Africa. I have no doubt in my mind that we will get there some day." About future plans "First, is to work for good governance by promoting credible and transparent elections. This will bring about the strengthening of our institutions and the enthronement of stability. "I also believe that there is the urgent need to create jobs for our teeming young population. This is another area that will be receiving my attention. "I believe more programmes like that (Youth Enterprises with Innovation (YouWin) and the Nagropreneur programme) should be established to promote youth entrepreneurship. That way, we reduce their reliance on paid employment. We will not only teach them to become entrepreneurs, they will also acquire the capacity to employ other people. We will be paying special attention to this segment of our society, especially young people and women. "As we speak, Our Nagropreneur programme, to promote youth involvement in agriculture value chain, is being scaled up by the African Development Bank presently. It is already being replicated in 19 African countries because of the success of the programme in Nigeria. My Boss' Wife Could Not Get Pregnant For Him, Now He's Got Me Pregnant

I work in this office and my Boss and his wife
 have been married for about 11 years without a
 child and the wife filed for a divorce not too long
 ago. We started a relationship when he came
 down about a year ago and wished I could get
 pregnant for him.
 
 We use to have unprotected s*x a lot but I didn't
 see any sign of pregnancy so I concluded he
 may be the one with a problem, hence his wife's
 decision to leave him. We decided not to have
 s*x again on the 1st of January as we both feel
 guilty after the act.
 Now there is a problem...
 
 I tested positive when I checked with a test
 strip, so I'm pregnant. He's very happy but I'm
 not. He told me he wants to go and see my
 family and have the necessary rites performed in
 March.
 
 My worry is he might not do so (as promised)
 and the pregnancy will start showing. I had the
 same problem with my first son's dad who
 always postponed the date for him to come and
 do the traditional rites till my tummy grew and
 everyone noticed I was pregnant yet he didn't
 marry me .
 
 I suggested an abortion but he refused saying
 I'm depriving him of becoming a father besides
 he's getting to 40. If he end up not marrying me
 like my ex, my family will be very disappointed in
 me for allowing such happen to me again as I
 can't call this one a mistake.

Olisa Metuh after his release: photo sent in by the PDP director of new media Deji Adeyanju Adeyanju told Naij.com that the PDP spokesperson left the court in the evening on Thursday, January 28 after meeting his bail condition. "We were able to finish everything in the court at about 7 pm and left immediately," Adeyanju said. Metuh's Special Adviser, Richard Ihediwa also confirmed to Naij.com that the PDP spokesperson has been released. "I can now confirm to you that I am with him now, yes, he is fine and he is in high spirit," Ihediwa said. Metuh who is facing a seven counts of money laundering involving the sum of N400m, part of the $ 2.1bn arms fund which he allegedly collected from former national security adviser, Sambo Dasuki, was granted bail in the sum of N300m and two sureties in like sum by a Federal High Court in Abuju on Friday, January 22, but was remanded in prison pending when he fulfilled his bail condition. The arrest and handcuffing of the embattled PDP spokesman has generated backlash from members of the opposition who have accused the President Muhammadu Buhari of using the anti-corruption agencies and other institutions of state to subject accused persons like Metuh to inhuman treatment.

 single day," she said in her testimonial clip.
 
 An hour after O sent her story into the
 Twitterverse, Weight Watchers shares climbed
 slightly over $2 a share, and since Winfrey owns
 roughly 6 million shares, the surge in share
 prices made the celeb $12 million just like that.
 Oprah as a board member and large share owner
 of the company.
 
 She's made a fortune since her
 October investment. Using a price of $13 a share
 from Tuesday afternoon, that means she's made
 $61 million on her total investment.
 On a per-pound basis, that's $2.36 million of
 profits gained for each pound lost.
 She has the best of both worlds: getting richer
 while getting slimmer.
 
 Oprah's October investment came at a price of $
 6.79 per share. She bought about 6.36 million
 shares, which cost her $43.2 million.
 She was also granted 3.51 million options to buy
 shares at that same $6.79 price. 
 
 Combining
 shares and options, her total stake is worth
 almost 10 million shares — 9.88 million shares to
 be more specific.
 
 The stock has practically
 doubled in that time, even including the rapid
 decline in the past several weeks.

"She's beautiful!" people would say.But lately I'd been noticing a new type of comment: "She looks really smart!" Was that the equivalent of saying an unattractive woman had a "great personality"?Don't get me wrong: after four years of infertility I was so grateful for my daughter, who really is adorable. Trying to get pregnant for so long meant I also swore that I wouldn't be one of those helicopter over-achieving parents, hoping to get my kid on a path into Yale by age two. My husband and I were pretty laid back, jeans and t-shirt type of people, even though we'd both had cosmetic surgery (him, a nose job; me, a stem cell face lift.) But this wasn't just about looks — it could affect how other kids would treat her."I have big ears," said a friend to whom I made the unfortunate choice of confessing my ear worry without first checking out hers."Oh, was it a problem for you?" I innocently asked. "Well, aside from being called Dumbo in grade school…" she said. Argh.What to do? Online mom forums were no help, because anyone who asked about the issue of big ears got attacked by the other mothers who found their own kids' protruding ears adorably yummy. (One mother defended a questioner by saying,"Kids are cruel, and most of you folks wouldn't think twice about someone's decision to circumcise their child or pierce their ears, so what's the issue with this??")"Newborn moms spend too much time examining their babies because they have too much time home alone with them," my doctor said. But then I turned her around. "Oh, I see what you mean," he added. He told me she'd probably grow out of it, that it was due to her sleeping on her back.The plastic surgeon didn't agree. Yup, that's where we took her after investigating other options, like the Baby's Bonnette from France, which was a netting hat that promised to hold babies' ears down during sleep, or the Ear Wells from England, small ear-shaped plastic "splints" that corrected ear deformities and "bat ears," which is what my daughter had. My husband wanted it done professionally."Your daughter's ears are not going to flatten out after she spends time on her tummy," said Doctor David A. Staffenberg,who specializes in craniofacial surgery. (Boy, did I feel horrible when I was chatting with another mother in the waiting room who told me her daughter needed surgery to split the skull bones open.) He said she was the perfect candidate for Ear Wells, a more cumbersome splint which shaped and caged the ear in plastic and held it to a baby's head. The only problem? We were quite late to the game. It had taken me a over a month to take action — and now the cartilage was beginning to set."Some mothers come to me straight from the hospital," said Nurse Practitioner Amanda Young, who said she's splinted about 250 babies' ears, and Dr. Staffenberg ten times that amount. I flinched at the cost — $350 for the first pair, and then after ten days, if another set was needed, another $250. "It's cheaper than plastic surgery," saidDr. Staffenberg, noting that from the age of about 6 or 7 ears could be pinned back in surgery under anesthesia, which can cost around $8,000."And painless," Young added. She'd had some six-month-old patients with promising results, although she wouldn't guarantee any for my baby."What's the harm?" my husband said. Indeed. Aside from looking like she had a Bluetooth on each ear, and the judgment I got from anyone who saw it (until I started lying and saying it was for an infection).Oh, and the fact that she didn't like it, demonstrated by the way she furiously turned her head from side to side to fall asleep. The left one came off after a day. "Most babies don't notice it," Young said,replacing the Ear Well free of charge. The pair lasted almost until the next appointment, and for the last few days we taped the ears down with the medical tape they'd given us. (The nurse practitioner said that in the south, that's how everyone does it!)And guess what? Her ears improved. At the appointment the staff agreed she didn't need any more intervention.  Emmanuel Emenike has moved a step closer after
 Fenerbahce agreed to loan him out, sources have
 told ESPN FC.
 
 The Hammers have made a bid to take
 Fenerbahce striker Emenike on loan for the rest of
 the season, but the move needed the agreement
 of Fenerbahce and Al-Ain as the 28-year-old had
 been on loan at the United Arab Emirates club.
 
 Al-Ain have agreed to cut short his loan deal, and
 sources in Turkey have told ESPN FC that
 Fenerbahce have agreed to allow Emenike to go
 out on loan again to West Ham with the option of
 a permanent deal.
 
 The two clubs remain locked in talks as they try
 to agree a loan fee before the transfer window
 slams shut on Feb. 1, with sources telling ESPN
 FC that Emenike has already agreed personal
 terms with West Ham to make the switch to
 Upton Park.
 
 West Ham boss Slaven Bilic is looking to add to
 his striking options before the close of the transfer
 window with Andy Carroll and Diafra Sakho on the
 sidelines, and the Hammers are hopeful of
 finalising a move for Emenike.
