I later became the governor, the vice president and, eventually, got elected as the president of my country. I remain the only leader in my country to have travelled that route. "It was not an easy decision to take. Power has an attraction so controlling and powerful that it takes a man who has the fear of God and who loves his people and nation to relinquish power so easily in Africa." Resisting the lure of power "I promised my God that I will not let that fate befall Nigeria under my watch, hence the historic telephone call I put through to congratulate my challenger even when the results were still being tallied. I believe that for a country to be great, both the leaders and the led must be prepared to make sacrifices. This is why, everywhere I go, I always advise that the new generation of African leaders must think differently. "We can no longer afford to wilfully sacrifice the blood of our citizens on the altar of dangerous partisan politics. It is not worth it. This reminds me of one of my campaign statements to the effect that my ambition was not worth the shedding of the blood of any Nigerian. Some people took it then as mere political slogan but I knew that I meant it when I said it. "We must all fight for the enthronement of political stability in Africa, for in it lies the panacea for sustainable growth and development. For Africa to record the kind of advancement that will be competitive and beneficial to our citizens, we must have stable states supported by strong institutions. That appears to be the irreducible minimum that is common to all developed societies. Africa's political odyssey can distinctly be categorised into three eras, and probably another that would later signpost its classification as a developed continent." On the difficulties ahead "Some may doubt this, but it is no fluke that Africa is growing and rising. However, I will admit before you here that we still have challenges. That is why people like us did all we could to ensure that Nigeria, the biggest black nation on earth, would not drift into anarchy because such a situation would have spelt doom for the rest of the continent. It would have affected not just Nigeria alone, but the GDP and economy of the entire West Africa. And, if the economy of West Africa crashes, it would definitely affect the performance of the economy of the whole of Africa. "As you know, the GDP of Africa is less than three trillion dollars, with only six African countries able to boast of nominal GDP above $100 billion. Even for those in this 'elite' category, you can't really say that they are rich countries. Apart from maybe South Africa that has an industrially competitive economy, the rest are still mainly commodity exporting countries. Even the case of that of South Africa is not very encouraging, because we have a situation which we could refer to as a first world economic performance, yet the ordinary people live the life of the people in the so called third world. "In the case of Nigeria which is even the biggest economy on the continent, the reality is that we have an unenviable per capita GDP of $3,203, which is the World Bank average for a period covering 2011-2015." On Africa's potential "Even then, I still believe that Africa has a bright future; a promising prognosis that is supported by the fact that the continent remains a very fertile and attractive territory that yields irresistible returns on investments. I believe that in the next few years many more big investors will be jostling to come to Africa, if only we will do the right thing. "The process of getting it right has already started with a democratic and increasingly democratising Africa. But we have to deepen and strengthen our democratic credentials through regular, free and fair elections. This will in turn bring about the stability necessary to improve the infrastructure that promotes rapid economic growth. These are the guarantees that would lead us into the next period which I would like to call the era of a developed Africa. I have no doubt in my mind that we will get there some day." About future plans "First, is to work for good governance by promoting credible and transparent elections. This will bring about the strengthening of our institutions and the enthronement of stability. "I also believe that there is the urgent need to create jobs for our teeming young population. This is another area that will be receiving my attention. "I believe more programmes like that (Youth Enterprises with Innovation (YouWin) and the Nagropreneur programme) should be established to promote youth entrepreneurship. That way, we reduce their reliance on paid employment. We will not only teach them to become entrepreneurs, they will also acquire the capacity to employ other people. We will be paying special attention to this segment of our society, especially young people and women. "As we speak, Our Nagropreneur programme, to promote youth involvement in agriculture value chain, is being scaled up by the African Development Bank presently. It is already being replicated in 19 African countries because of the success of the programme in Nigeria. "I am very optimistic that if we encourage young men and women in this continent to develop businesses of their own, the story of Africa will change within 10 years." Details on Vanguard .

My Boss' Wife Could Not Get Pregnant For Him, Now He's Got Me Pregnant

I work in this office and my Boss and his wife
 have been married for about 11 years without a
 child and the wife filed for a divorce not too long
 ago. We started a relationship when he came
 down about a year ago and wished I could get
 pregnant for him.
 
 We use to have unprotected s*x a lot but I didn't
 see any sign of pregnancy so I concluded he
 may be the one with a problem, hence his wife's
 decision to leave him. We decided not to have
 s*x again on the 1st of January as we both feel
 guilty after the act.
 Now there is a problem...
 
 I tested positive when I checked with a test
 strip, so I'm pregnant. He's very happy but I'm
 not. He told me he wants to go and see my
 family and have the necessary rites performed in
 March.
 
 My worry is he might not do so (as promised)
 and the pregnancy will start showing. I had the
 same problem with my first son's dad who
 always postponed the date for him to come and
 do the traditional rites till my tummy grew and
 everyone noticed I was pregnant yet he didn't
 marry me .
 
 I suggested an abortion but he refused saying
 I'm depriving him of becoming a father besides
 he's getting to 40. If he end up not marrying me
 like my ex, my family will be very disappointed in
 me for allowing such happen to me again as I
 can't call this one a mistake.

"The doctor thinks he has a problem in his medial ligament but it is impossible before tomorrow."It is very difficult to know in this moment but I am optimistic he will not be out for the rest of the season. It is not a cruciate ligament, it is the medial ligament."De Bruyne joined City from Wolfsburg in August for a reported £54 million and has quickly established himself as a leading star in Pellegrini's squad.He made a huge impact when he came on as a substitute in the 67th minute as the two-legged tie swung in City's favour.Pellegrini added: "I always said Kevin is a very important player in the whole season. He didn't start because we have to play nine games in 27 days."I think it is important to have a very good rotation of the squad.  single day," she said in her testimonial clip.
 
 An hour after O sent her story into the
 Twitterverse, Weight Watchers shares climbed
 slightly over $2 a share, and since Winfrey owns
 roughly 6 million shares, the surge in share
 prices made the celeb $12 million just like that.
 Oprah as a board member and large share owner
 of the company.
 
 She's made a fortune since her
 October investment. Using a price of $13 a share
 from Tuesday afternoon, that means she's made
 $61 million on her total investment.
 On a per-pound basis, that's $2.36 million of
 profits gained for each pound lost.
 She has the best of both worlds: getting richer
 while getting slimmer.
 
 Oprah's October investment came at a price of $
 6.79 per share. She bought about 6.36 million
 shares, which cost her $43.2 million.
 She was also granted 3.51 million options to buy
 shares at that same $6.79 price. 
 
 Combining
 shares and options, her total stake is worth
 almost 10 million shares — 9.88 million shares to
 be more specific.
 
 The stock has practically
 doubled in that time, even including the rapid
 decline in the past several weeks.

Staffenberg,who specializes in craniofacial surgery. (Boy, did I feel horrible when I was chatting with another mother in the waiting room who told me her daughter needed surgery to split the skull bones open.) He said she was the perfect candidate for Ear Wells, a more cumbersome splint which shaped and caged the ear in plastic and held it to a baby's head. The only problem? We were quite late to the game. It had taken me a over a month to take action — and now the cartilage was beginning to set."Some mothers come to me straight from the hospital," said Nurse Practitioner Amanda Young, who said she's splinted about 250 babies' ears, and Dr. Staffenberg ten times that amount. I flinched at the cost — $350 for the first pair, and then after ten days, if another set was needed, another $250. "It's cheaper than plastic surgery," saidDr. Staffenberg, noting that from the age of about 6 or 7 ears could be pinned back in surgery under anesthesia, which can cost around $8,000."And painless," Young added. She'd had some six-month-old patients with promising results, although she wouldn't guarantee any for my baby."What's the harm?" my husband said. Indeed.  Fenerbahce agreed to loan him out, sources have
 told ESPN FC.
 
 The Hammers have made a bid to take
 Fenerbahce striker Emenike on loan for the rest of
 the season, but the move needed the agreement
 of Fenerbahce and Al-Ain as the 28-year-old had
 been on loan at the United Arab Emirates club.
 
 Al-Ain have agreed to cut short his loan deal, and
 sources in Turkey have told ESPN FC that
 Fenerbahce have agreed to allow Emenike to go
 out on loan again to West Ham with the option of
 a permanent deal.
 
 The two clubs remain locked in talks as they try
 to agree a loan fee before the transfer window
 slams shut on Feb. 1, with sources telling ESPN
 FC that Emenike has already agreed personal
 terms with West Ham to make the switch to
 Upton Park.
 
 West Ham boss Slaven Bilic is looking to add to
 his striking options before the close of the transfer
 window with Andy Carroll and Diafra Sakho on the
 sidelines, and the Hammers are hopeful of

 Abramovich gave a £25 million yacht to Russian
 president Vladmir Putin, new reports claim.
 
 Dmitry Skarga, a former head of Russia's state
 shipping company, Sovcomflot, said the boat
 was a gift from Abramovich, who transferred it to
 the president via an intermediary associate.
 
 The pair have long been friends but Putin's critics
 feel he has unknown energy business deals with
 the Chelsea owner.
 
 "It's a fact that Mr Abramovich, through
 his employee transferred a yacht to Mr
 Putin," Mr Skarga told Panorama. Mr
 Skarga also alleged that the yacht is run
 and maintained with state funds, even
 though it is Mr Putin's personal property.
 
 The allegations come as a top American official
 openly accused Mr Putin of corruption and direct
 embezzlement of state funds.
 
 There has been a
 lot of speculation about Putin's actual wealth
 value with Bill Browder, a hedge fund manager
 and vocal critic of Mr Putin, claiming that the
 Russian president is worth $200 billion, a sum
 that would make him by far the richest man in
 the world.
 
 But Putin's spokesman has called the
 allegations "complete trash.
 
 " Mr Abramovich's
 lawyers called the claims about the yacht
 "unsubstantiated" and little more than a "rehash
 of speculation and rumours".

 Dr. Furo Green, the Chairman of Rivers State branch of Nigerian Medical Association, NBA, gave this medical advice, while speaking on the Lassa Fever scourge in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State Capital.He said
 
 "Because you are not sure which garri has been infected by rats, its advisable to stay away. When you want to sip garri, you only pour cold water, add sugar and milk as the case may be.
 
 "When you do that you only succeed in gulping a life virus that can cause Lassa fever. The virus is empowered easily to attack you. Rather, garri should be consumed in the traditional way prepare it well boiled hot water or pour the garri in a pot of boiling hot water and steer it."
 
 Dr. Green also advised members of the public to store food in closed containers to keep rats at bay.
 
 "When you buy foodstuffs like garri, you should pour it into a container that is covered to avoid the garri from being contaminated infected rats".
 
 Since the outbreak of Lassa fever disease, three people have died in Rivers state, claiming the life of a medical doctor with the state-owned Braithwaite Memorial Specialised Hospital (BMHS), Livy Ijamala, on Wednesday January 13 night.
 
 The medical doctor was said to have contracted the fever from a pregnant woman that conducted an emergency Cesarean Section unknown to him that she was infected.
 
 The death of Ijamala brought to three, the number of persons who have died from the disease in the state, as a nursing mother and her two-week-old baby died earlier from the virus.

 Standard Digital is reporting that the fight occurred at a restaurant in Nairobi where Vera and her team had gone to eat.
 
 Apparently, Stacey stormed the scene and started a verbal fight with Vera, and it soon degenerated into fisticuffs as Stacey allegedly emptied the contents of a glass cup on Vera before the duo exchanged blows.
 
 Vera's personal security guard broke up the fight and allegedly sustained injuries in the process. In her statement to the police, Vera said she confronted Stacey after the lady cussed her out.
 
 "When I asked her why she was bad-mouthing me, Stacey picked a glass and splashed its contents in my face," Vera told the CID officers at Kilimani Police Station.
 
 Standard Digital reports that the police are set to arrest Stacey Pendo.
 
 Though the reason for the fight is yet to be made public by the duo, Standard Digital's sources reports that it allegedly is linked to a Nigerian artiste the duo allegedly dated.
 
 In 2014, rumours made the rounds that Stacey was having an affair with Davido, and in an interview, she said it was all true.
 
 In 2015, Davido was briefly linked to Vera, but the duo never publicly admitted to having an affair.
 
 Is Davido the reason for this fight? We may never know.

The PDP has described Metuh's arraignment in handcuffs as a "brazen display of authoritarianism" by the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration Popular for the wrong reasons For the past weeks, Chief Olisa Metuh has been popular for all the wrong reasons. Since the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arrested the national publicity secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at his residence located at drive one, Prince and Princess Estate, in the Games Village area of Abuja January 5, he has dominated in all sections of the media. Metuh is facing investigation for allegedly collecting about N400m from the office of the former national security adviser, Sabo Dasuki, part of the funds meant for the procurement of arms and ammunition for the fight against Boko Haram in northeast which the Nigerian Army never received, thanks to patriotic citizens like Metuh. But the climax of Metuh's predicament came when he was handcuffed by the Nigeria Prisons Service (NPS) as he appeared for his trial at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday, January 19. As expected, the arrest and handcuffing Metuh has drawn widespread condemnation from the PDP. The opposition has ran to the gallery accusing President Muhammadu Buhari of using anti-corruption agencies and other institutions of state to subject accused persons like Metuh to inhuman treatment. The party also claims Metuh's ordeal at the hands of the anti-graft agencies was an intent by the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led administration to deride the PDP as well as taint the party as a party of corrupt individuals even when they were yet to be convicted by any competent court. But these baseless accusations by a party which celebrates people like James Ibori, Peter Odili, Joshua Dariye, Diepreye Alamieyeseigha, Lucky Igbinedion, Chief Bode George, Sambo Dasuki and Goodluck Jonathan among others who are accused of perpetuating corruption in high places should not come as a surprise to Nigerians. How Metuh Committe Political Suicide What the PDP has failed to realise is that Olisa Metuh committed political suicide when he collected N400m from Dasuki and still had the nerve to attract attention to himself by constantly attacking an administration that was busy trying to deal with the mess that he and his league of looters had created. Prior to his arrest, Metuh displayed the kind of disposition that violates the principle "that he who comes to equity must come with clean hands" . Aware that he had skeletons in his cupboard, Metuh should have kept quiet rather than constantly gallivanting the media taking swipes at the APC administration which is battling to clean the filth he and his PDP cohorts have heaped on the country. He shot himself in the foot when he chased cheap popularity by raising alarm that the economy of the country was crumbling and that the insurgency in the northeast was worsening when he knew that he was among those who had milked Nigeria dry and shared in the blood money many of our gallant soldiers died for but never received. In a Punch report dated January 12, 2016, Olisa Metuh himself made a confessional statement to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission that Goodluck Jonathan gave him N400m for a job which he refused to disclose. This was after he tore his confessional statement and decided to swallow the paper so as to eat his words literally. How PDP is advertising shamelessness Even after his confession, the PDP has chosen to close its eye to Metuh's statements by pretending that shame has gone out of fashion. In advertising shamelessness, the party still has the nerve to demand for the release of Metuh, warning that his arrest was capable of ruining the country's democracy as stated by its national secretary, Prof. Adewale Oladipo, in a Punch report of January 5, 2016. Let's ask this question, if a man who has confessed to stealing N400M (one million in 400 places) is handcuffed, is it a big deal? Olisah Metuh deserves what he is getting, he should have learnt from men like Chief Bode George and Peter Odili who have chosen to lay low so as to hide their alleged financial crimes. One thing is certain following Metuh's arrest, he is on his way to political irrelevance now that some national officers of the party have asked him and the acting chairman, board of trustees, Haliru Mohammed and others to step down with immediate effect. Whether his political death comes now or later, Metuh should bear in mind that he caused his own downfall by talking too much when he knew he had skeletons in his cupboard. Prior to the fixing of the hearing date, counsel to MTN, Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN), informed the court that parties were already discussing on how to resolve the matter amicably.He then asked for a 60-day period from the court to allow for the discussions. In his submissions, counsel to NCC, Yusuf Alli (SAN), disclosed that the court's discretion is limited to the rules of court, which allows for just 21 days to file and serve written addresses. Counsel to the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), Oladipo Okpeseyi (SAN), in his response to Olanipekun's 60-days request, expressed reservations. He disclosed that the telecommunication outfit has not been consistent in its call for an out of court settlement of the matter. "This is a matter of national importance. There has been concessions in the past and nothing happened", he said. The silk urged the court to make a consequential order that all the processes filed are deemed as properly filed and served. Following the various submissions of lawyers, Justice Idris held that all the preliminary objections and substantive application shall be taken together while all the processes filed shall be deemed as properly filed and served. He then adjourned the matter till March 18, for report of settlement or for hearing. In the substantive suit, MTN had sued NCC, challenging the sanction imposed on it and urged the court to quash the fine. Joined as co-respondent in the suit is the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice. The telecoms company argued that NCC being a regulator couldn't assume all the functions of the state on its own. It was further argued that the NCC cannot make the regulation, prescribed the penalty and imposed the fine. MTN also alleged that it was not afforded its constitutional right of fair hearing before a court of competent jurisdiction and more importantly, it had not been found guilty of any offence that will warrant it to pay such outrageous fine. It contended that the sanction imposed on it by NCC was within 24 hours of its written submission on the disconnection exercise and the impractical nature of the NCC deadline.

It was gathered that the police also recovered the forged certificates.It was observed that the certificates included a fake MBBS certificate of the University of Ibadan, and a fake membership certificate of the Nigerian Medical Association.Speaking with PUNCH, Adesina said he paid N100,000 to one Kolawole in Ibadan, Oyo State, to get all the certificates, adding that he had used them for only three years. He said, "I bought the certificates from Kolawole in Ibadan. That was three years ago. I bought them from him for N100,000. He printed the seven certificates."I do not know where he stays. We did not meet in any specific location. We usually met at fast food joints or any agreed place. For instance, it was at Agodi Gate area that I gave him the money and got the certificates. I decided to use another name on the certificates."I forged them because I dropped out of the university. I was actually studying Medicine.However, I dropped out in the 500 level due to financial reasons."I married my wife about five years ago. She thought I was a certified doctor. She actually came to me for treatment in the Ketu area and that was how we met. We have a child."Adesina, who denied his landlord's allegation, said he only operated a laboratory where he attended to his patients. He said, "Three years ago, I decided to get the certificates just to cover up for the failure to finish my university education."It is not true that I brought women to treat at home. The truth of the matter is that I have a laboratory and the women came there. I usually did tests for them and by the time the test results were out, I would ask them to visit a hospital for treatment."The suspect's wife, Olawumi, pleaded that her husband should be released as he had realised his mistake, and would never venture into such again.But the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, said the suspect would be charged to court as soon as investigation was over.
