Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale are among the
Real Madrid star names to be excused from
Wednesday's Copa del Rey last-32 first leg at
Cadiz -- but James Rodriguez has been named in
the travelling party by Blancos coach Rafa
Benitez.
Benitez has also rested first-team regulars Keylor
Navas, Luka Modric, Toni Kroos and Danilo for the
trip to the third-tier Andalusian side -- while
France international Karim Benzema also sits out
the game.
Squad players including Alvaro Arbeloa, Denis
Cheryshev, Kiko Casilla and Lucas Vazquez are all
set to begin the game -- with Austria under-19
international Philipp Lienhart likely to make his
first senior Madrid start in central defence due to
the club's continuing injury issues.
Isco, who is currently banned in La Liga, looks
sure to be named in the XI. James, whose
relationship with Benitez has become a talking
point among local fans and pundits, will could get
another chance in the side.
Other youngsters likely to be given a chance to
impress at the Estadio Ramon de Carranza
include midfielder Marcos Llorente and Spain
youth international sensation Borja Mayoral.
"Rafa Benitez has named a 17-man squad for the
Copa del Rey round of 32 first leg clash between
Real Madrid and Cadiz, which will be played at the
Estadio Ramon de Carranza," a club statement
announcing the squad said.
Goalkeepers: Kiko Casilla, Ruben Yanez and Carlos
Abad.
Defenders: Pepe, Nacho Fernandez, Alvaro
Arbeloa, Philipp Lienhart and Alvaro Tejero.
Midfielders: James Rodriguez, Casemiro, Mateo
Kovacic, Denis Cheryshev, Isco and Marcos
Llorente.
Forwards: Jese, Lucas Vazquez and Borja Mayoral.
